Back in the Saddle

Finishing Strong

I had some major downtown after qualifying for Boston at the Phoenix Marathon at the end of February. But I can say after my awesome race experience at the Best in the West Triathlon Festival this past weekend I’m officially back in the saddle again!

I decided a couple of months ago to race in the Hits 70.3 Lake Havasu Triathlon again this coming November. I had such a great experience with my first 70.3 there in 2013. I have since wanted to do another one and this seemed a great opportunity to go back and visit family and friend as well as race. This time though, I don’t just want to do it, I want to race it so I hired a coach – Michael Larsen of Larsen Performance Coaching! I’m six weeks through training and the results have already been tremendous! I raced the Olympic distance at Best in the West as a “training” race and did fabulous! I managed an 18 minute PR with a 2:54:59 and a 25 mile bike leg in 1:19:05 – 18.8 mph ranking 8th out of 62 women on the bike!

I’m so stoked; if I improved this much in six weeks, I’m anxious to see what the next six weeks brings. My official time in 2013 was 6:00:18 – I’m hoping to set a new 20-30 minute PR in 2015. Yes, I’m back in the saddle for sure!
